Charles Shepherd, 77, of 306 W. Market St., who operated a grocery at New Richmond for many years, died Monday in Culver Hospital. He was a farmer and member of the New Richmond Christian Church, F & AM 89 at Montezuma, Order Eastern Star at Montezuma and 40-year member of the Crawfordsville Eagles. He was graduated from New Richmond High School. Born Aug. 14, 1899, near New Richmond, he was the son of Hale and Nell Bailey Shepherd. He was married to Ruby Carter in 1948. She survives. Other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Norma Jean Lovett, and two grandchildren, Nancy Lewis and Frederick Carey all of Zionsville. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Burkhart Funeral Home at Crawfordsville. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Masonic services will be at 8 p.m. Wednesday. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m. Wednesday. – jlr
